    • Neither. Both contain mercury. Swine flu is not tested at all. Plenty of studies show that the general flu vaccine doesn't work, ESPECIALLY in children.

      • NP: It's not that simple. The general flu vaccine usually does not work all that well, but it does confer SOME protection. Whether or not you want your children to have it is a legitimate question, but to say that the general flu vaccine doesn't work is misleading.

        • Alright, I give you some credit: a review of 51 studies evaluating the effect of influenza vaccines found that there was "no evidence that injecting children 6-24 months of age with a flu shot was any more effective than placebo." In children over 2 yrs, it was only effective 33% of the time in preventing the flu (note that flu-like symptoms can be caused by more than 200 other viruses). Reference: Vaccines for preventing influenza in healthy children. The Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews. 2 (2008).

    • I will be getting both for my dcs, and I think that anyone who doesn't has never experienced the real flu.

      • I'll take my chances with that. I know how to alleviate the flu, bot not how to handle vaccine side effects. Neither do ped's.

      • Actually they say the swine is less intense/milder than Influenza-B which I had 5 months ago (after getting my flu shot as suggested)

    • Guess not, my pediatrician doesn't recommend them. She says the flu shots are not effectiv in kids.

    • My kids are getting them - we have elderly grandparents that we often visit and I would hate the kids to give them something (they get their shots too but nothing is 100%).

    • I have a toddler and baby; we are not doing either one (never have). Swine flu vaccine is too new and flu vaccine is not effective.
