  • now that football season is upon us, we normally like to have people over for brunch. i am already looking ahead & wondered what you thought of my menu. bloody marys and coffee as the guests arrive. sausage, onion, pepper & cheese friatta, red potato home fries, mini croissants and fruit. thanks!

    • Minor quibble - I think I'd rather have mimosas first and bloody marys with the meal. Or just have both. Also I'm a sweet freak so I'd add a sweet baked good, rather than croissants: cinnamon rolls, a fruity coffee cake/buckle, muffins.

      • thanks! when i go out for brunch, i always get a bloody mary to start. after 1 or 2 they are too heavy for me - especially paired with food. obviously the bloody marys will still be available during brunch, but thought it would be nice to switch to a drink that was a little bit lighter. i thought of serving something sweet, but with the booze and all that food, i didn't want one person out of 6 craving a muffin. any ideas for a simple dessert?

        • is this a chick party? i don't know many guys who eat sherbert over cookies/brownies, but to each his own.

              • I posted about sweets above, I think biscotti is a good idea, rich sweet & satisfying but small. Only thing is that I've generally had more than enough coffee by the end of brunch (cause I started at home).

                • i figured the game doesn't start until 10am. with the bloody marys and mimosas, most people might welcome coffee to sober up. those who don't can add the irish cream

                  • With the sweet biscotti, sounds like you have the bases covered (sorry do not know football well enough to come up with more suitable analogy!)
