Return to talk

18 mo has been running 102-103 fever since last night. Coincidentally just had check up this morning with no obvious sign of why. He's on tylenol and still has 103. Waiting for a return call from Ped. What is typical course of action? How high is too high? Should I be worried that it is still high even with the tylenol?

    • Are you giving her the appropriate dosage for her weight (not age?) how about motrin?

    • sometimes tylenol won't work, sometimes motrin won't work. cool baths generally work.

    • give ds fluids and a tepid bath (bath not too warm, not too cool); and alternate tylenol and motrin according to weight and dose on label. i hope he's well soon.

      • exactly what my ped recommended when my then-16-month old had a fever that over the course of 3 days topped at 104. alternate motrin & tylenol, make sure he/she is comfortably dressed in cotton and has a blanket near for chills. fevers are a reaction to an infection and they actually help fight it, so keep with the dosing and hang in there.
