    • Going to twins when DS turns 2. He'll be in morning toddler class until 12:30 most days, but people are telling me that I'll need an additional PT nanny to help out in the beginning. [My job situation is uncertain. This is assuming that I will be working full-time.] And yes, we're in Manhattan, currently in a converted three bedroom.

      • Will your 2 y/o also nap in the afternoon? What time will you and DH be home from work to relieve the nanny?

      • Yes, I don't see why a capable, experienced nanny could not handle three kids. Mine tells me she has nothing to do with two (who still take two naps a day) and cooks and cleans because she's bored (I never ask her to).

    • If a mom can, a nanny can, but you need to find a good one with experience.

      • ...and you can't expect miracles like daily trips to the zoo, museums, etc. However one adult can keep the three kids alive and reasonably happy most days, without breaking down too often.

    • I would say no because of the potty training issue. Plus, I'm guessing between a baby, a new walker, and a experienced toddler there is no way she can be everywhere at once.

    • Only if they are experienced, and you better hang out with them for the first week to make sure they can actuaaly do it. Can't tell you how many sitters I fired after the first or 2nd day. signed Mom of 3 under 4.

    • depends what you expect from her. btdt. same ages. she can prob manage but your house wont be kept tidy. kids will not be going to museums, etc, but hopefully get out for a walk in the afternoon. she may need to put on dvd for toddler when babies are in need of feeding etc. as long as your expectations are reasonable shld be fine. and btw i did try 2 nannies, was a bit of a disaster.

    • it depends how much you want naps protected. If you don't care if everyone naps on the go, misses naps etc., fine. But if you like your kids on a stricter schedule, I would get a second p/t person to pick toddler up at school and stay at home for nap time so nanny can take others to park/classes etc., so like 12-4 each day.

    • yes, but you need to be realistic. there may be times you come home and one (or two of the kids) are crying while she tends to one (changing a diaper, etc.). Or she has 2 in front of the TV so she can care for 1 of the dcs (changing, feeding, etc.). She can only do so much, and you have to be ok with that. Signed a nanny who cared for 3 under 3 (1 with special needs).

    • imo no way; she's a paid employee and doesn't have the same instincts as a parent. not safe.
