  • Just got initial (day 3) CVS results - all 46 chromosones accounted for. Anyone experience different final results from the initial results? just wondering how big a sigh I can take.

    • I had CVS and was told I could take a BIG sigh of relief...at least for DS and the 46 chromosomes thanks be to God. But am still pg due soon and will see. There are thousands of things they can't yet test for. So, my advice (based on my own experience) would be to take that BIG sigh, put your feet up and relax, and ENJOY your pregnancy! :P

    • I'd love to know too! How long do you have to wait for the final results>

      • We paid a few hundred dollars extra and got the FSH tests/results in 2-3 days, I think.

        • Isn't FISH still the initial results? Or is that actually the full results?

          • Good point - I think you're right FSH = initial results. I was reading the "final" results as once baby is actually born (as there are so many other things they can't yet test for). I guess the worrying never stops! Let me focus on the things that have gone right and could go right. So many other good things to think upon. :)

    • we are waiting for our initial results and i'm wondering the same thing. our genetics counselor told us they rarely see final results that do not match the preliminary and if they differ, it is usually because the sample did not culture correctly, which they would tell you. i take a big sigh for you! on a side note: we are getting our prelims in one day, they did not tell us it would cost hundreds of dollars - is that the standard cost? TIA
