  • If DD seems to get along well with sweet boys but has only a few girl friends (does not get along with more aggressive boys, in fact fears them), would you think that a co-ed school would be a better choice than a SS? Or does it just not matter? If so, do you know if there are some co-ed private schools that attract boys that a more gentle in nature?

    • I hear TTs screen out boys who misbehave or are wild or whatever. Of the TTs, I think Dalton and HM have a range of boys and Trinity seems to have very quiet boys (and girls). Trinity kids and the staff were all very quiet. But you need to be connected to get in.

        • When I toured there, everyone seemed to whisper. I saw K and 1st grade classes and compared to other schools, it was just very literally quiet. Not sure if quiet = gentle, but I think some families like it very very quiet while others will find it weird. The school struck me kind of waspy and traditional which is what a lot of people like about it.

          • we're just starting this process, so ty. if you had to compare it to a school that wasn't so quiet, what would you say? would active or dynamic be the right words to describe the opposite of this quiet you observed?

            • I would not describe Trinity kids, based on my tour, as active or dynamic necessarily. They were quiet and focused and the teachers did most talking. At other schools, even SS schools, kids talked more and I heard teachers less.
