Do you 'enjoy' spending time with your kids?
- Yes, most of the time we really have fun together
- Sometimes it's fun, sometimes it's really dull and aggravating
- Honestly most of the time it's not fun at all, but it's not supposed to be fun
- I really don't enjoy it at all, and wish I could spend less time with them

Does this sound true or crazy? My sister-in-law's ds (my nephew) has a peanut allergy. My ds also has a peanut allergy. Sis-in-law e-mailed me a warning from a woman (member of food allergy network) with an allergic dd. She said that after asking American Airlines over and over if there would be nuts served on the plane, whe was assured not to worry. As they were boarding the plane they were told that nuts were being roasted in the oven in 1st class and in all the AA planes going to St. Kitts. There are ovens on airplanes that are used for roasting nuts? Why would someone make this up?

One day they are going to have a kid that is so allergic to peanuts that even the smell of them will cause him/her to get so sick that they could die. Then the airline will have a huge law-suit and go bankrupt. Still want your toasted nuts now?
[ Reply | More ]Is there any science behind this? Is a peanut allergy is much more sensitive than any other allergy and someone could die from being in the same room as nuts?
[ Reply | More ]Peanut allergy causes anaphalaxis shock which can cause swelling of the throat which cause death. Not everyone will die from it, but if someone is extremely allergic to pn and doesn't have their epi pen it could happen. I don't understand why airlines would want to take a chance. A person could be trapped in a plane with no medical assista nce.
[ Reply | More ]Any allergy can cause anaphalaxis shock. I'd bet that airlines do have epi pens on board. The question is if jsut having nuts in the same room could cause the reaction. If so those allergic could never go to a resteraunt, grocery store, other family's home, baseball game, the subway. Really they couldn't go out in public. Are they that sensitive?

Hahah, you think a lawsuit would make an airline go bankrupt? They seem to be able to do that quite readily, on their own, unprovoked. And any kid that allergic shouldn't be traveling in public anyway.
[ Reply | More ]Actually, airlines have the right to deny a passenger with a life-threatening allergy like that in order to avoid this issue. My friend's DD was going to Europe and they requested "no nuts" on plane bc of her extremely sensitive allergy and the airline said "she can't travel with us".

I can't get past the idea of warm nuts. I wish my dh would get back from his business trip already.
