    • OP: sorry... anyway- have been putting the pacifier in when he wakes to get him to sleep longer. For the past 2 nights I have had to run in the room 4 times to put in the pacifier. Don't want to get in this rut. Do I eliminate the pacifier all together?

    • Me too! Gee whiz. Now 5.5 months old and I'm up at least 3 times putting paci back in. We want to move her to share DD#1's room (2.5 yo), but feel like we can't until DD#2 can go to sleep easily and not wake up in middle of night needing paci. I can't remember when this stopped w/ DD#1... maybe when she can put paci back in herself? I do remember putting 3-4 pacis in DD#1's crib so she could find one wherever she'd moved to in the crib...

      • OP: I did that with my older daughter (2.5) as well. And now she is hooked on the "nunu" it is only for bedtime... but she will have a hard time parting with it- Anyone BTDT- will he just scream until he falls asleep and then get used to it??

        • ONP here - our 2.5 yo gave it up about 2 months ago bc she'd chewed through most of the nipple part. I told her it was a choking hazard, so ripped the nipple off and handed it back to her. She said, "No! It's broken! I'm going to sleep without it!" I said ok. And she's been fine w/o it ever since! Could hardly believe it. I've heard of cutting off nipple for same effect. Maybe worth a try...?

          • that is a good idea. She is potty training now.. so maybe when we are thru with that I will give it a go- don't want to change too many things at once!

    • Since that is the only purpose I would eliminate it. You will probably have to put him to bed a little later than 7 if you want him to sleep past 5:30. He is already sleeping 10 1/2 hours which is normal for that age. Also if he does wake up this early you can also try a nap schedule again if he doesn't already get one.

      • he will nap (go back to bed) around 7:30-8 and then another little cat nap in the AM. He also naps in the afternoon. Seems like a lot when I say it like that- but he sleeping well.
