    • Not that I'm defending her, but gestational diabetes can turn into diabetes after giving birth. It usually goes undetected as most OBs or even GPs don't test for it after the baby is born. New York is trying to mandate that women who've had GD or borderline GD during pregnancy get they fasting test 6 to 12 weeks post-partum.

    • oh hell no...I just Googled and read this. I'm a type 1 diabetic, so correct me if I'm wrong, but type 2 diabetics or people with diabetes stemming from gestational diabetes do not go into "shock" unless they're taking insulin and their sugar gets too low. If she had undiagnosed diabetes, her sugar would be insanely high which can make you groggy and ill, thirsty, sleepy, and eventually comatose but not crazy, drunken, etc. Man, this burns me...it's already hard enough to manage diabetes without people thinking that it might cause you to go on a drunken driving rampage...
