what car should we buy? dds are 5 and 8. we live in the city and would prefer something not too environmentally unfriendly, but also safe. Any recs?

        really? I've heard nothing but good things about them IRL but have never owned one. Did use to have a honda and it was great. go with one of those.

        then anything will do, really. test drive the honda as above and the vw. the vw is more fun to drive. you should also look at hyundais. (car or suv?)

        we bought a used Passat wagon - we like it and it is going strong for 5 years w/out any major repairs. Buying used is the most environmentally friendly (if you are not buying a used tank).
