my 5 year old dd has been having some sort of "tick" for the past year and a half-she blinks hard and long every 10 seconds or so-no other ticks and Dr. says it's normal for this age, but people keep making comments and don't see it getting better-anyone else ever see this?

          • not you, op, the person who said it's so annoying. it's a tic, which, by definition, means it's not within the person's control -- have a little sympathy!

              • pick on something he's sensitive about -- he'll stop. pointing it out to her is only going to make it worse.

    • My dd does the same thing -- lots of extra blinks. it usually doesn't happen when she's involved in doing things, or when having conversations, but if she's siting and watching TV or just resting, it happens a lot. I've watched and noticed that it even happens in her sleep. From what i've read, they do often go away on their own. And you should try not to point it out to her.
