    - i'm the one who hated it and i am 3/4 irish. if you read the time article about his death it's all about how he came to terms with his dad's alcoholism, but when you read the book all i get is his disappointment in his mother.

        it's not the dark that bothers me. it's the 'parent who sticks around gets the shaft while parent who leaves is loved' and that's not particular to just the irish.

i hated angela's ashes. he was too judgemental about his mother, imo.

i'm the one who hated it and i am 3/4 irish. if you read the time article about his death it's all about how he came to terms with his dad's alcoholism, but when you read the book all i get is his disappointment in his mother.
