IVF moms: have you or do you plan to tell your dcs that they were conceived in a petri dish? signed ivf mom.

np: i can't imagine how it could be insensitive or hurtful for a child to know that they were SO wanted by their parents that great lengths and efforts were gone to in order to have a baby. that said i don't think it's necessary to say anything but if parents wanted to, kid would know they had joined a very elite group of extremely wanted kids!!

as opposed to what? a momentary spasm by dear old dad after a few margaritas? -signed non-ivf mom who doesn't think it matters but considers the latter scenario as probably something one's progeny would want to repress
[ Reply | Options ]ITA. It may be pertinent when your dc becomes of child-bearing age, but until then I don't see any reason to tell a child. Kids wouldn't even understand it until their teen years anyway, and at that age, they really don't want to hear the details of their parents sex life, so why would you tell them this?
