    • Probably slightly over half are WOHMs. Have no idea.

      • OP here: that's interesting. We are at a school (non-TT, non-UES) where I have been one of only 2 or 3 WOHMs for the past couple of years and find it harder and harder. I have to miss so many meetings and events during the day which DC resents. Finding playdates this summer is a real struggle as classmates have relocated to second homes outside NYC. We are wondering whether it is just our school.

        • np: at a school my son used to attend, the pta meetings were in the middle of the morning so virtually no working parents could attend. it drove me crazy. i also got the feeling that the teachers were kind of upset that i worked--they always made a huge deal about how often my husband dropped off/picked up our son. i'm sure they didn't make a big deal about all of the moms who had more than 50% pick up/drop off duty. we are at another school that is a lot friendlier for parents who work outside the home!

          • This is happening here too except that our nanny does pick-up and drop-off. I feel like the teachers look at us negatively - got some off-color comments about the issue. Would you mind sharing which school you are currently attending or know of as more friendly to working parents? It is getting increasingly uncomfortable for us. The $ for tuition and donations to the annual fund (we are not on FA) has to come from somewhere!

            • we are at bank street. i think the school at columbia is also working-parent friendly. i have a number of friends whose kids are there, and they are very happy.

              • ^^it seems like the families at these schools are pretty down to earth too. we know a few families who go away for the weekends/holidays, but work keeps most of them in the city most of the time.

            • Do your teachers really make "off-color" comments, meaning vulgar (usually sexual or racist)?

              • off-color was not the appropriate term. Snippy would be more accurate.

    • In our K class about 50% work part or full time; probably 1 or 2 have a net worth >$10M> - maybe more. UES TT.

    • I think about 70% of the moms work at my school, but most work p/t, freelance, or have their own business with a very flexible schedule. I don't think more than 25% work f/t in an office setting. As for the HHI issue, I don't really know, maybe 25%?

    • about half, but dc is only in K. I think the numbers are higher in the upper grades. No idea on wealth factor. Would guess 1, maybe 2 families have that net worth.

    • About half the moms in DC's class work, about half of those have demanding full-time jobs. I would estimate that a third of the families have net worth above $10m, but that is really counting other people's money.
