What kind of kids score better on the SB than the ERB? Why would this happen? I've heard it more often with boys than with girls. Is there less emphasis on the non-verbal on the SB?

NP: I have heard this as well, and I am happy it seems true, but why is it difficult/impossible to prep for the sb? is it testing logic and reasoning skills that can't be taught as such?
[ Reply | Options ]np: it is possible to prep for the sb. kids who are used to doing those kind of "games" and "puzzles" do much better on the test. i'm not sure why people think you can't prep for IQ tests.

My dd scored much better on the SB than on the ERB. I think she got tired on some of the non-verbal testing on the ERB.

It's hard to say all around; there are more variables than simply length, format or content. Our 'unprepped' child scored at the top of both tests but many obviously extremely bright kids we know, didn't. Some kids like that stuff,; some don't. Some kids are tired, unwilling/able to relate well with the environment or tester, or any number of other factors.
