So depressed. Can't afford to send DCs to pre-k this year (after 2 years of preschool that they loved). Worst of all, one DC had a SEIT last year because she had trouble transitioning between activities with a group, participating and following the crowd. I have no idea how to address this issue now so she can be prepared for K next year. I feel like a failure as a parent.

first of all this has nothing to do with you as a parent. these are rough times and people losing jobs and homes. you sound like a very caring parent. re. the seit, when it comes times for K, address this with the school and request this help again if it's needed and the professionals are on board about it. is there any financial aid you could tap into? any pre-K's that will give "discount" for siblings? family to ask for help?
[ Reply | Options ]Kids change enormously in a very brief period of time. She may not have been ready for those activities earlier, and she may be ready for them when she needs to be. Give her plenty of confidence and opportunities to demonstrate how capable she is. She possibly felt overwhelmed. Our DC changed enormously from 2 to 3, 3 to 4, and especially from 4 to 6.

Are you expecting something special from your dh for Valentine's Day?

- No, thank goodness.
- No, and I'm already fuming. He's so unromantic!
- Don't know...
