Do you 'enjoy' spending time with your kids?
- Yes, most of the time we really have fun together
- Sometimes it's fun, sometimes it's really dull and aggravating
- Honestly most of the time it's not fun at all, but it's not supposed to be fun
- I really don't enjoy it at all, and wish I could spend less time with them

My son developed a weird rash today - it's only on the upper parts of his arms, his buttocks and upper legs, and now cheeks of his face. Hydrocortizone cream made it fade for a while. Anyone experience this?

Like I said my dc had a temp of a 100 and had the rash like symptom so I called DR and it turned out to be scarlet fever. I also said that I wasn't trying to alarm OP but just offering something to look at becuse our dc shared same rash sympotoms. However, thank you for putting OP at ease...and I am not writing this post with sarcasm.

I have three kids, so I can tell you that there are more rashes that you will ever be able to diagnose. It could be anything. Usually it is best just to call ped. and ask what is going around. does your child have a temp? does it itch? only a real emergency if you press on it and the red doesn't fade. probably fine - probably a heat rash.
[ Reply | More ]how old is dc? if under 2, my son had roseola when he was younger. its a fever of 102 and no symptoms. at the end of it after a few days, fever breaks and a rash comes out. no way to treat and dc was fine. ped could not diagnose, it was actually my mom that diagnosed it.
[ Reply | More ]Roseola is most common under 2, but I had it in grad school so at any age its possible. Doesn't hurt or itch, just a rash.
[ Reply | More ]My dd was just diagnosed with this today. Was mis-diagnosed as Fifth Disease earlier in the week. Go to Ped, but for both of above you just treat the fever, comfort child and it will just run it's course. We actually thought it might have been scarlet fever on Friday evening before seeing the doc this morning and getting the Roseloa diagnosis. These things can be difficult to diagnose on your own - heck, even the first ped got it wrong!
