Friend coming with DC to visit Columbia campus. They want to explore the neighborhood. Will have one day. Any ideas? I'm from Brooklyn and don't know the area well. Thanks.

    • Yup - ready? First off, the campus is lovely to stroll around in. Other fun places - Cathedral of St. John the Divine on Amsterdam and 112th - gorgeous cathedral and beautiful grounds (with peacocks!), Hungarian pastry shop right across the street with delicious pastries and pretentious academics, Can also go to MOrningside Park and see the waterfall and ducks, go to Riverside Park and stroll by the water or go to one of the myriad playgrounds and then can walk over on 110th street to Central Park and go to Harlem MEer. Also can go up to 125th street and walk east to visit the main drag of Harlem.
