Move to Long Island which is where I grew up but am not really fond of but will be 15-20 minutes away from my mother and will have her help at moments notice anytime I want OR move to Westchester which I really like and would prefer to live but be an hour plus from mother and would still have her help but not neccessarily at a moments notice and it wouldn't be nearly as easy?

Love CT, but feel that being close to family is more important and that if we have a happy life on LI, the things that bother me about it won't seem as important. As they say "life is not a dress rehersal" and I want to be close to my parents so they can enjoy day to day life with us instead of having to "come visit". That said I am desperately trying to stay in NYC where I have the best of all worlds. GL.
[ Reply | Options ]I would do #2- because it would make me happier- it's not like you are moving to the west coast- I'm kind of stuck in situation #1- but live 10 blocks from my in-laws and 40 minutes from my mother- I'm dying to move to the west coast- but we put roots down in NYC- so it's hard for us to move now but we are re-thinking things- you live one life, be happy-
