  • Tell me some fun things to do while visiting Boston in August! It's going to be me and my 1.5 year old visiting a friend and I'm trying to find some fun unique things to do. Thanks!

    • shouldn't the friend you are visiting entertain you? or at least have some suggestions?

    • it's Boston. the most boring vanilla city on the east coast. eat some chowder, go to the harbor, have a pint a beer, and see a sox game. done.

    • The Children's Museum is great! You should also go see the statues from Here Come The Ducklings. Have fun!

    • Take a ride on the swan boat in the public gardens. Visit the children's museum. Go to the aquarium. Wander around Faneuil Hall. Walk around Harvard Square and Harvard Yard. Take a walk along the river. Those will all be stimulating and enjoyable for both you and your dc.

      • Harvard Square is fun and there are a couple of great toy/books/clothing stores for kids. And Beacon Hill/Charles Street, also on the Red Line and right next to the Common and the Public Garden. The Common has a great playground and the "Frog Pond" which is a nice big splash pool for kids.

    • The duck tours are awfully fun, but with an 18-month-old, you'll probably have a great time just ambling through the Public Garden and playing on the duck sculptures. Go to the Children's Museum and have lunch at Flour around the corner.

    • OP: Also, what are some fun unique stores? I like scrapbooking, antiques, any lost and found type of place. Thanks! It's my first time visiting and I want to get a lot out of it... Probably should just relax though. lol

          • lol--it's a very long street! Starts at the top of Beacon Hill (where the Common etc. is) and goes way out to...Boston College! But you'll be close to a lot of good stuff. Charles St./Beacon Hill has some great antique stores (pricey though) and some good shopping (Red Wagon for kids, Koo de Kir for home design, Black Ink for paper goods and quirky fun stuff). Have a great time!
