    • I do not have curly hair, but thick, often-frizzy hair. I got japanese straightening at Hair Village in Woodside, Queens (the best, in NY). It is $150 if you have moderately short hair (mine is chin length), plus a %15 tip. It takes almost one entire day, and then you can't wash your hair for three days, but once it's done, your hair dries stick straight after being wet and does not get frizzy in humidity.

    • try the new keratin treatments. I hear its much better for your hair and much less extreme.

      • Those have formaldehyde in them, don't they? I heard that the stylist (and the "stylee") have to wear face masks because of the toxicity of the chemicals. Anyone BTDT?

    • I just got a keratin hair therapy treatment from Mario Tricocci. It was super expensive ($300 for shoulder length hair, plus you need to buy sodium free shampoo, which can be pricier) and took about three hours in the salon and three days of no washing. But I think it was totally worth it. My hair was wavy and would get super "big" and frizzy in any kind of humidity. Now, it's still wavy if I don't flat iron, but it is totally unaffected by humidity. Supposed to last about three months. *fingers crossed*
