I'm looking for info on VCS, I'm thinking of looking at it for my dd (approaching school age) and heard that all of the students there repeat a year? Is this true? And how does the mixed-age classroom work?

    • They have a program that is called doubling. It is not exactly repeating year. It is just a different way to break down a class by age range. Instead of being in Kindergarten the children are in the 5/6's and this continues on for the lower school. So at one point your child might do the same class range twice. What's so nice about this is that your child can learn from their older peers, but will also get to experience helping out their younger ones. This is really great for children who might otherwise be the youngest or oldest in their class based on their birthday. The children all still graduate in the same time frame as any other K-8.
