The dude's child from http://nycgiftedandtalented.wordpress.com/ got into PS 33. First choice. No surprise there.

[ Reply | Options ]I called the school today and met the principle. She was even kind enough to conduct a tour for my son and me. They plan on opening 2 classes, but all you need is 8 students and the class will open. Last year the minimum was 10. I would be happy to have my DC in a class with 7 more children.

Why would g&t PS 33 be canceled? based upon post the guy indicates he's spoken to the principal a few times and principal returned phone calls. seems like a private meeting with principal would be possible. sounded pretty positive about principal from post
[ Reply | Options ]Lack of interest, like 111 and 191 last year. Already there is someone on this board turning down 33
[ Reply | Options ]yeah, one UB member turning PS33 down must be an indication of something, right?
[ Reply | Options ]It's a real drag that people STILL rank schools which they wouldn't have their kids attend. This is a real blow to the present and futures of some programs, leaves some kids sol and seems irresponsible. Unless those people are moving or got citywide, I don't get why they ranked.

and they are script flippers. If eligible for district programs only-rank only the ones which you'd accept. In district which have numerous choices, only rank those you want. Some families got ZERO offers, after ranking all available. There are no guarantees except that ranking ALL, whether willing to send or not, will add to so and cancellations.

Huh? If you rank and decline it has the exact same outcome as not ranking it at all. The program will not happen unless enough kids are registered for it.

Are you expecting something special from your dh for Valentine's Day?
- Yes, and he's in big trouble if he forgets.
