you are me last year. but DD is thriving at district G&T (and very proud to of herself) and so we are happy. just try to move forward and embrace PS9, which is a great school, and do everything you can as a parent to support your child's school. If everyone does that, all the schools will rise up. Good luck!
[ Reply | Options ]Try to take your "pride" out of it and realize that PS9 is in many ways - a better school than Anderson. Everyone drinks the Anderson kool-aid and yes, it's a great school - but PS9 is also GREAT! You should be very happy - many people would kill to get that spot. You will have a great experience at PS9 - it's great!
[ Reply | Options ]That was us last year and we were pretty bummed. But you will always know that the mix of kids you will be with at 9 is the same as Anderson (but with crummy lottery numbers). As far as I can tell (and of course, I had to rationalize it!) Anderson is not that much better except for the middle school option. And by that time, you and your DC may be ready to move on to a new setting anyway. Welcome - it's a great school and restored my faith in public school system...

- No, thank goodness.
- No, and I'm already fuming. He's so unromantic!
- Don't know...
