My DD's birthday is August 25 and will be turning 4 this year. Are most private school(including TT ss) hold back summer birthday kids? Will she be applying next year(instead of coming fall)? I am afraid if she gets too young comments and apply next year, we will get too old letter and SO?

[ Reply | Options ]most. but you should try anyway and let them decide. my august bday not connected, not $$$ dc was accepted by a tt.
[ Reply | Options ]it depends on the school. you should apply and let the schools tell you. I think it is unlikely but if your child is mature you may be ok. and some of the hill schools (HM, Riverdale, Ethical want you to apply on-time, and they may not look at your DC at 6 for K. they will tell you if DC should be held back.
[ Reply | Options ]Funny Ethical wants you to apply on time, but they still told us our Aug ds was too young.
[ Reply | Options ]last year Ethical told us that our August dc is too old, and returned the application.

Year before we were too young for them as well. Go figure. I think we are royally screwed with this b-days. Got into tt the second time around, but feel very upset that my very academically advanced dc will be starting K.
[ Reply | Options ]np Like it or not, private lower school is generally about socializing for academically advanced kids. Our dc was finally pulled out of class for math because dc had mastered the material a few years before.
[ Reply | Options ]Did you try HM and had the same thing happen there? We did not apply there this year, I wonder if they will think dc is too old as well. Argh. On the bright side our kids do get two shots at this, unlike the May kids.

Are you expecting something special from your dh for Valentine's Day?
- Yes, and he's in big trouble if he forgets.
- Yes, but it's not something I care about.
- No, thank goodness.
- No, and I'm already fuming. He's so unromantic!
- Don't know...
