Our DC#1 is in Dalton(2nd grade). We have DC#2 and applying in this fall. I am not sure if she will be accepted. What other schools I should consider applying besides Dalton? We live UES and don't know much about ongoing(DC#1 applied only 2 schools).

are all dalton parents as annoying as you? such false nonchalance and buried show-offiness. "oh, look at us, we applied to only 2 schools and didn't really try and don't know a thing"
[ Reply | Options ]np I have to say, with one kid already at Dalton for 3 years and living on the UES to boot, kind of hard to imagine the OP has no knowledge of other ongoings ...
[ Reply | Options ]nnp; woah, you are hyper-sensitive. where do you get that from the OP? I know one family who only applied to 1 school and got in. Not all families are crazy and apply to 15-20 schools.
[ Reply | Options ]np Families who want private apply to more than one school. We applied to 7 (but dc had very high erb).
[ Reply | Options ]I am telling you that I met one family that applied to only one - they figured if that doesn't pan out, they'd go with public. One of the reasons that work against these schools recruiting diverse families is that the families really do not consider applying to more than very few schools.

we only applied to 1 private and dc was accepted. were planning on going public until we learned about the private we applied to.
[ Reply | Options ]OP here. I have been away from computer. Please don't flame. Let me explain why we applied only 2 schools - My DC#1 was in citywide K when we applied to Dalton We didn't mind staying to citywide G&T(we didn't love it though). So we didn't have enough knowledge about private. Yes, we are extremely lucky.

- Yes, and he's in big trouble if he forgets.
- Yes, but it's not something I care about.
- No, thank goodness.
- No, and I'm already fuming. He's so unromantic!
- Don't know...
