Would you TTC #2 in this situation: DH just graduated Master's program and has not found job yet (we both have reason to be hopeful), I earn enough to support us but have survived multiple rounds of layoffs and are rather junior. Age difference of new babe to my firstborn already bigger than I'd like. Thoughts? I plan to return to work, of course.

    • You would have nine months for DH to find a job to support you during maternity leave. That can be a positive or negative, depending on DH's field. Personally, I would not do it until the job thing solidifies a little bit more. And, depending on your own field, would being pregnant in the current environment make you less a desirable employee? Bottom line, I'd wait till DH gets a job.

      • I have a very generous maternity leave. Thanks for your post. That is my intuition as well, though I must add that I am in my early 30s and don't wish to wait much longer.

    • Similar situation here: DH has been out of work for several months (and it's not his "fault" - he had a contract position that wasn't renewed for $ reasons, he always seems to be the 2nd choice candidate, etc.). #2 is due in the fall and the timing isn't great in terms of financials - but I also think that the PG has helped our relationship (b/c we have something else to focus on, rather than DH's job situation). Not sure that I'd recommend the timing, but we're trying to see the glass as half-full! :)
