Bar Mitzvah recs: any recommendations for good inexpensive photographer - just stills, not video. Same question about flowers, invitations and makeup (for mom). Need decent quality, low price v imp. Don't need/want top of the line.

Definitely use evite.com, it's free and it's convenient (I think). Also, check out www.kristinahill.com for photographs. Tinyprints and companies like that are great for thank you notes. Also - Craigslist for make up artists has been great for me :) Good luck!

Based on what I remember from my wedding... Jared Slater photography (jandjphotography.net I think). He was SO incredibly nice and I liked the kids pictures he did. I went to the Mac store for makeup and it was maybe $40 and to Blow for my hair - they specialize in blow outs; and for flowers I know several people that used a store in the flower district. It appears like it could be cheesy, but if you pick something simple it comes out really nice. I am trying to remember the name, ugh. I always use Reaves Engraving for a cheaper Crane look but I'm not sure if they have Bar Mitzvah stuff.

For my daughter's Bar Mitzvah we hired Lux Photo Studios (http://LuxPhotos.com) and they did a great job, though we haven't gotten around to ordering our album just yet. They are fairly priced and you get a lot for your buck. Make up was done by Sylvia Dimaki (http://sylviadimaki.com/) - very lovely, professional, a bit on the expensive side though.
