BTDT breast cancer moms: what was the worst part for you? I am doing chemo now (3 more months) then surgery, then radiation--I am also a single mom and trying hard to keep supporting my dcs, trying to plan and wondering if radiation will knock me out as badly as chemo.

    • I haven't been through it, but have close friends and family who have. The medical world has made such huge advances in recent years, chemo is much easier to handle than it used to be. that said, it's still a trial. radiation is not as bad but is still exhausting because you have to go every single day...at least that's the way it used to be. good luck and good for you for electing to attack this thing aggressively. the best outcomes that I've seen have been with people who elected to throw as much at the disease as they could

      • Ditto above poster. My boss's wife had it and is now in remission. Another friend had it; now in remission. I think if you have good support--friends/family, it will be an "easier" road. I think the chemo is worst from what I've heard; not sure about radiation.

      • OP: with 2 dcs I don't have a choice! But so far the treatment has been effective and not too tooo horrible.

        • The two people i mentioned above had grown kids (out of house). Hopefully you have tons of help with your dcs! I'm glad it's going OK for you.

          • OP: yes, friends are being great. I see some women at chemo with 3 or 4 kids under 5 (many Orthodox women at my onc) and I don't know how they do it.
