Whenever our nanny stays late (9pm or later), I have DH go out with her to get a taxi under the guise of making sure she's safe, but the reality is that she needs someone white (could be me) or no one will pick her up

    - it's really not just about the taxi drivers, it's the whole system and cycle of racism. many taxi drivers are of color, there is interalized messages as well
