      • Actually, the honors track is quite good. Colleges tend to love LaG kids, especially those who've been in honors and AP, because of their dual academic and artistic commitment.

        • If you have the creative thing going, good. Generally speaking though - it is not academically comparable to those other 2. No way. No how

          • As the mom of a LaG kid, who has many, many friends at Stuy and Bronx, the LaG kids are WAY happier, which in a teen is NOT to be underestimated. By the way, LaG is 2nd behind Stuy among city HS's for getting kids into Ivy League schools.

                • Hmm - you don't think that Hunter would be above Stuy even? Or maybe the principal is just talking about DOE schools?

                  • I should have been clearer. The principal was referring to DOE HS's.

                    • Do you mean the number of kids who get in or the percentage? (LaG is a big school compared to Bard for example.)

                      • Honestly, I can't remember. Either way, the comparison was made on a fair basis. The stat is just that - a stat. It reflects well on LaG and isn't meant to detract from the success kids find coming from other schools.

          • Why would a dc go to LaGuardia without having "the creative thing going"?

            • Of course, they wouldn't. They wouldn't have passed the audition. The odds are daunting... Well over 10,000 prospective students audition for about 600 spots

    • More and more kids I hear of opt for LaGuardia. But of course the kids who get the most out of it are actors, musicians/singers, artists...
