For moms of toddlers--anyone ever have an issue with biting? My dc was bitten at daycare today. They said the same child has done it before and say they are working with him/her but said they couldn't tell me which kid is the culprit. Anyone ever go through this

    • Yes, almost every kid either bites or is bit. It's a stage. No big deal if the daycare handles it well.

      • What is handling it well? Is it law that they can't say who did it?

        • Not true. #1 NEVER bit. #2 bit me twice, but no other kids.

    • yes, they don't tell you. At dd's daycare they do work with children who bite- try to teach them to express themselves in other ways, keep a close eye on them, but if they continue to bite- they do ask the child to leave

    • At our preschool, you're told your kid was bitten--but not who did it (though dc, of course, tells you!). The biter is sent home for the day.

    • Biting is taken seriously. My DC (now the most well-adjusted 7 yo) had six biting incidents in his first year of preschool. They gave us a very hard time - it was difficult. He was just turning three and he was not biting outside of preschool. The situation in that classroom was a bit much for him. After that, he never bit again. I understand that persistent serious biting can get kids expelled from preschool.
