aargh just a vent. moved out out of the city a couple yrs ago when I was pregnant with my first, DH hated it, and plus, we figured, wed have a better "family" life in Bklyn- more space, backyard, cars, all that sururbia dream stuff. Well Im hating it. I miss everything being at my fingertips. I hate calling a backyard that is barely larger than our old balcony "space" for DS to play. Yes we have more space in a house than a 2br. But I miss city life and sometimes Im just like "why am I here." some support please, because it doesnt look like im moving back anytime soon. someone please tell me that I did the right thing for the sake of my family :(

    • You don't say what area of Brooklyn you live in so I can't really comment specifically but I moved to Brooklyn and I love it. I was actually born and raised on Manhattan and I now like Brooklyn BETTER. My neighborhood (East 20s) had become one big dry cleaner/ crappy grocery/ drug store. At my old apartment we had to use Fresh Direct or buy groceries from the gross tiny grocery store which never had any selection and was dirty. The apartment was too small and crap was always everywhere b/c we never had enough places to store stuff. Now I live down the street from two huge supermarkets and like 4 different gourmet and specialty stores. The neighborhood had tons of useful stores, like a hardware store! And the whole place is much more community oriented. There is way more social interaction. How long have you been living in Brooklyn?

    • Depends on where you are. The neighborhoods are so different...we love park slope but I wouldn't want to live in bay ridge or ditmas (and others completely disagree)...

    • We moved to Boerum Hill a year ago and I have had the opposite reaction. I love it. I would not want to move back. I can't believe I resisted so long.

    • Either find what's beautiful in your situation or switch to another neighborhood that feels more like "where it's at"...we love brooklyn, by the way. Definitely feels like everything we need is at our fingertips.

    • Cry me a river, you are probably close enough to the city that the trip is the same as going uptown or downtown was before.
