We have a REALLY bad mouse problem. Any suggestions? We have tried every trap known to man and sealed up every hole we can find. What are our chemical options?

        • just get some of the cat hair and spread it through your place. the scent of a cat will deter mice.

        • you might want to discuss this issue with your landlord...if they can't resolve your rodent problem then the least they could do is waive the no pet rule for a mouse-hunting cat

        • I'd think that the landlord or management co. confronted with a really bad mouse issue might make at least a temporary exception!

        • I have a really amazing cat that's been killing mice since he was 4 months old. Three days in your place and he will get every last one of them.

    • Did you try that box trap that you have to bait and empty every day - it catches them live and you have to flush them (or save them and set them loose in the country).

    • Serious answer that sounds like it is not serious: call a no-kill animal shelter, or one of those animal re-homing rescue groups. They are ALWAYS looking for good foster homes for cats. Foster 2 cats and be nice to them, they've had a hard time. If your landlord busts you, the cat rescue group will take back the cats.

    • there is a bait you can get at a good hardware store or home center. It dries sticky enough to not be pulled. Also, there is a new version of the snap traps with a yellow plastic paddle. These suck. The old fashioned ones with the metal (copper) area for the bait are still the best.

    • mice hate steel wool; plug any holes however tiny with it and they won't go near it.

    • if you don't like this, sorry but no flaming, this is a real solution.. there's a trap you can buy that "zaps" them with a 9v battery. you bait it and then it blinks if it has caught something.. and you empty it out and can rebait. we used it and it resolved our problem. it obviously doesn't fix the issue of them getting into your apt but at least it can address the problem once they are there..

      • I'm the Ratzapper poster below, and ita. Only thing that worked (and we tried everything--no kill traps, glue traps, snap traps, the round no see traps...).

    • I would move, but agree that the plug-in ultrasonics might work. Also know people who lay sheets of Bounce around because mice hate the smell. Definitely true about steel wool in any holes. Mice won't try to chew through it.

      • The mice have company there. That is, I hate the smell of Bounce - though I doubt I would try to chew through steel wool either.

    • Well, weed would make you more relaxed about it, but then you might get paranoid that the mice are coming after you. Coke would put your hunting efforts into overdrive. Heroin is probably the answer b/c you'll be too busy looking for the next fix to care about the mice.

    • The ONLY thing that worked for me when I was in your shoes was the Ratzapper. Ordered from Amazon. Remember thinking "yeah, right" when I read the instructions and it said that you'd have a kill the first night if you had mice. Sure enough, a dead mouse the next morning (no blood and gore, either).

    • THe only thing that worked for us was DCon all over the apartment. we had plugged up he holes with steel wool and used glue traps and while they worked temporarily, it was the poison that put the end to the problem.
