looking for experiences in new G&T programs in close-to-failing schools, like 145. Any comparable situations in D2? What have the outcomes for your dcs been?

- The DOE has been trying to put a G&T in PS111. No luck so far. Not enough folks ranked it last year. Let's see what happens this year.

- you won't find it in d2. the zoned schools are good enough that no one will risk sending dc to a g&t in a failing school. that's why they ditched the programs in 33, etc., last year.

- any other districts, then? anyone go to 145 in years past? anyone have experience with 163 back when it started? i'm really wondering if this can work.

        145 did not get enough families to open a class two years running now. Neither did 165 this year, or 191.

        why did they decide not to offer 165 this year, given the # of kids tested and scoring above the cutoff?

        I think there are space issues at that school now, increase in gen ed enrollment. I heard 163 may only have one class for the same reason.

        Don't worry, most of those kids won't go to 145 or 191 so if you are ok with any program in the district you will get a spot.
