What are you sick of on UB? I'm sick of the 99 moms. moms obsessed with their dc's 99 scores especially the ones that think their kids 99 should be a ticket to any school they want.
82 replies [ Reply | Watch | Options ]sick of the bitter public school parents who hate the kids who get something their kid did not. they want everyone to go down on a sinking ship. they begrudge everyone everything.
[ Reply | Options ]i'm totally sick of you, who thinks everyone in public is an envious, bitter parent.
[ Reply | Options ]if you are OP, I have to say that you started it. hating the 99s is just the beginning.
[ Reply | Options ]I'm the OP and I don't hate 99s. I hate moms who think they mean more than they do. like saying, I can't believe my 99 dc didn't get an interview at trinity. I can't believe my 99 is going to gen ed etc.
[ Reply | Options ]well, then you have no empathy. I think it is especially disappointing to come close to getting something and then have it fall through. I think it is harder when that happens, than when you were out of your league to begin with.

but that's the luck of the draw, just like getting in to A or N is the luck of the draw. suck it up.
[ Reply | Options ]see, it is the suck it up attitude I despise. no one is entitled, but it is clearly disappointed to come close and miss. more disappointing than when you don't even come close. why is that hard to understand.
[ Reply | Options ]i can see how making it to second round of hunter and then not getting in must be disappointing. i guess i am not referring to that kind of a situation.
[ Reply | Options ]but that does happen. kid gets a 99 on every test, and may still end up at zoned school with the kid who got a 33. the parents of the 33 kid are happy their dc has a decent school, and the 99 parents feel disapponted that their dc's performance did not result in a better fit or placement. the disappointment is greater.

I think most people would agree that it sucks for anyone not to get the best school possible. and most would agree that the difference between a 97 and a 99 may be none, or a lot in either direction given the tests. but if your dc has a 50 on the sb, you put hunter out of your mind and move on quickly. if your kid gets a 99 on all tests, goes to 2nd round, and you end up with a crappy unknown G&T or your local school, you may be much more disappointed.

Op: I do have empathy, but don't feel that its "out of the league" of non-99s. its the entitlement that bugs me and the belief that getting a 99 on a test when a dc is a 4 y/o means their dc is some sort of genius that all the schools should bow down to.

Whether you like it or not, a very high score (like a 99) significantly helps an unconnected, decently behaved dc's odds of getting into a top school.

I think the food nazis are worse than the parents who let their kids eat whatever.
[ Reply | Options ]agree. food nazis are far more sanctimonious and controlling. dislike these characteristics immensely
[ Reply | Options ]-
Are they holding your DC down and shoving it down his throat? If not, why do you care so much?

good point. food nazis pack all these inedible crap for shared snack and harldy any child will have any of it.

Some Spring testing results are probably coming back, so give those moms who just got their kids' 99 ERB score back some leeway. What I dislike are the posters who put down private schools they consider low tier and probably never toured anyway. Different strokes for different folks.
[ Reply | Options ]I'm sick of people who are not doctors, but believe they know more than doctors, and believe that all doctors are in bed with pharmaceutical companies.

I'm sick of people defending nannies shopping with dcs. anyone can see that its not like parents running errands with their dc, when you see the sad little faces of dcs strapped in their strollers while their nannies browse in Loehmans. can't imagine why anyone thinks this is right.
[ Reply | Options ]I am sick of people bashing schools because their dc did not get in. Sour grapes.

eh, meh, whatever, Dude, Dear, class references (especially "High Class"), project, Mexican,Caribbean nanny haters, fatty calling, non native NYer ugliness, the crying poverty when living w/hhis of over twice or more the national MC norms.

Nasty pontificating about the rules of economics, conduct and wardrobe if you 'want to hang' as a 'qualified' NYC resident. Those pos(t)ers always reek of traded up transplant and pretend to represent 'real' ny'ers. Some of the most kind, truly intelligent and down to Earth people I've ever know are actual native ny'ers.

I'm sick of people who create posts like this. If you have nothing worth while to post about, just sit quietly and read. The "new post" box is not an invitation for frivolity.
