Has anyone ever let a tv/movie film in their appt? Law and order is offering us $7,000 for a two day shot, they pay for hotel and they may move some or all of our furniture to storage and then move it back. It sounds like a decent deal but I’m worried our apt will be a mess or things will get damaged or stolen.

Neighbors below us did it. They have a 4 year-old DD, they went to the hotel, DD was THRILLED and neighbs loved it. Company was great and very considerate. They did accidentally scratch the wall but immediately dispatched someone to fix it. I think what was essential was the # of contracts that they signed, thus ensuring that all their belongings/their apt were safe.
[ Reply | Options ]Oops, forgot to add that neighbors signed lots of contracts to ensure safety of their stuff. I see poster's reply above, so I guess it can be good or bad. Do you mind if I ask where you live/what your place is like?
[ Reply | Options ]Did they get approval from the Coop or landlord? A bit worried they might cause disruption in the building and someone will complain. Dh and thought we would give the super a little extra to "watch the place".

If you are going to let anyone do it, L&O is your best bet - they have the best crew working for them. I had them in my office a few years ago and the only sign they had been there was the new paint smell the next morning. FYI - your landlord or coop board will have to approve it and will want a cut of the fee and make sure you have a signed contract and are given an insurance certificate naming YOU as the additional insured.
[ Reply | Options ]We let someone use our apartment for a 2-day photo shoot. It created a bit of a mess--I suggest rolling up and storing your carpets and putting away anything breakable or that you'd be really, really sad to lose. Also, be sure to OK it with your coop board. Many don't allow it. My DH's office was also used for a 2-day Law and Order shoot. He had a couple of things stolen from his desk, as did many of his coworkers. So beware.
