When is the soonest and best way to tell gender of baby? Do I have to wait for my 20 week ultrasound, or can I find out earlier? I know the ultrasound is not very accurate, can you tell gender from amnio, and is that even a reason to get one? TIA

    • most accurate would be a CVS at approx. 12 weeks or amnio at approx. 16 weeks. as for ultrasound they can usually tell at 16 weeks...but not 100%.

    • considering the additional risk of miscarriage involved in cvs and amnio, i can't imagine anyone doing it just to find out the sex.

    • don't have an invasive test just to find out the sex of the baby. There is always a small chance of miscarriage

    • Check the Chinese baby calendar. So far everyone I know had the sex of the baby correct according to it, including me :)
