How many moms kept a baby journal as soon as your baby was born? I feel so awful... My son is now 3 months old and I just realized I completely forgot to do his newborn hand/foot print for his baby journal. I've been so tired it somehow slipped my mind and now I feel so guilty. I barely have any journal entries either!

      • Oh, thanks for your replies! I just opened a baby journal up and saw all these things I was "supposed" to have done the first week and I've been feeling so guilty about it. Feels like my son is growing so fast and I can't keep up!

        • Exactly. I have enough to do without having to worry about recording his first poop.

      • Stop inventing reasons to feel guilty. You'll get plenty of real opportunities as the kid gets older. LOL.

    • never. people gave me two, but never filled them in, and did not give in to the guilt. Don't do it! you have enough on your plate. Take some nice picture and videos.

      • It just felt like I was not being a good mom by not fully cherishing the moments, but yes, you are right... I shouldn't give in to the guilt and just focus on taking good care of my baby.

        • You ARE cherishing the moments, just not in a hallmark kind of way. No one ever said you had to record every fart.

    • Never. I just tried to keep an approximate list of developmental milestones - smile, rolling over, etc. Sometimes I had to try to remember back 3 or 4 months by the time I remembered. Then at the end of each year (dd is 2 now) I write her a letter telling her about her year, what she did, what she liked, etc. The year 1 one also has my hopes/dreams for her. I've found them very meaningful to write, and I hope she'll find them meaningful to read. I also sent copies to my bro who is guardian "just in case." Then I made a point to make photo albums w/ labels. Of course I did albums of her first 2 years when she was 2 - and none before - but at least I got it done!

    • Never. Kept track (on an Excel spreadsheet of milestone for the first 12 months of my first child). For my daughter, didn't even to that :-( What a horrible mother I am!
