Do you 'enjoy' spending time with your kids?
- Yes, most of the time we really have fun together
- Sometimes it's fun, sometimes it's really dull and aggravating
- Honestly most of the time it's not fun at all, but it's not supposed to be fun
- I really don't enjoy it at all, and wish I could spend less time with them

I am terribly interested in the occupations of my dc's incoming K class parents at tt private. I plan to google each one when we get the class lists. Is this an odd thing? or do you do this too?

I wa really stunned at how many parents in our children's pre-k did this- as a rule. People were right up front about having done so; They had lots of comments and questions about work we'd done, particular people/clients we'd met/worked with and SO on. It was pretty weird and we're NOT celebs. I've definitely googled clients of my own, before taking on a job, but not parents of our kids' classmates; that seems creepy.

It would never occur to me to do that and I was shocked when a friend told me she did that sort of thing. I have now noticed it seems to go with a certain kind of personality -- are you very competitive, at least somewhat status conscious, and also a little insecure? That would describe my friend and the people I know who have that kind of curiosity and Google-mania.
[ Reply | More ]Interesting. I do not come up when I google myself, but a few other people with my name do.

Huh. It wouldn't occur to me to do that. Professions come up in conversation, or they don't. And either way, it just doesn't matter so much to me that I need to google them.
[ Reply | More ]Last September I Googled all the parents in my dc's new K class. I never thought for a moment that everyone else didn't do it too. I guess I am a lot weirder than I thought I was.
[ Reply | More ]That reminds me of the girls I went to college with in the South. "Hi, nice to meet you, what does you're daddy do?" I guess it is just more covert now. We are in a lucrative business that everyone is very interested in, if you google me and my husband our wonderful lives come up. Why else would Linkedin be so popular?
