Do you 'enjoy' spending time with your kids?
- Yes, most of the time we really have fun together
- Sometimes it's fun, sometimes it's really dull and aggravating
- Honestly most of the time it's not fun at all, but it's not supposed to be fun
- I really don't enjoy it at all, and wish I could spend less time with them

what do you think of this vacation idea for a long weekend with 4 and 7 year old -- Lancaster PA. Stay on a working farm where the kids can help with farm chores, go to Dutch Wonderland, Hershey Park, Train Museum, Amish stores, buggy ride etc.

[ Reply | More ]more like you prefer beaches to getting dirty...most little kids aren't "beach people"
[ Reply | More ]NP: My DD's are 4 and 7 and never happier when they can spend the whole day at the beach or pool.
[ Reply | More ]ditto, they love the sand and the waves and the fact they can be messy and no one cares. I think that the beach might actually be messier than a farm just because sand gets everywhere.
[ Reply | More ]tritto, 3 yo DD loves the sand, fooling around at the edge of the water, and we all enjoy the fact she can move around fairly freely without constant minding (of course we are watching and within close proximity but no hand-holding required, nor a lot of managing interactions with other kids).

OP here -- it's not really intended to be a "farm" trip. It's more the amusement parks (both my kids love them) train museum (my son loves trains) and the stores are for me. But I didn't want to stay at Hersey Park or some boring hotel. I thought it could be nice to stay somewhere that the kids can hang out outside, play with the animals etc in between the main events.
