np: Me too- not until recently- I live 4 blocks from there and see the boys come out regularly to work out in Riverside park, in packs outside the school, etc. etc. they look exactly like how I envision my ds in 5-10 years- sweet, kind of bookish- not type A alpha jocks- this is the only reason why mind- you- haven't even toured the place - just know what's posted on here.

I might have thought this when my dc was 5, but I don't think any of these schools are the best for my now 13 year old.

I can't think of two schools that are more different than Horace Mann and Chapin...
[ Reply | Options ]We applied to both, got into one of them. I think they are both: 1) great academically, 2) traditional. OK onw is ss and the other co-ed, but I didn't care either way. One more Waspy and the other more Jewish, but I didn't care for that either. The only real difference that I cared about is that Chapin emphasizes (too much for my style) proper manners
