How old are you and how many months of TTC did it take you to get pregnant? Please answer for all DC's that you have. Just trying to gauge an average to see what to expect.

First try at 22 and 1st try at 36. Pre-eclampsia with both but both ended in healthy dds.

# 1 at 36 took about 9 months, #2 at 38 m/c, but got pg immediately at next cycle

thanks. it is my own fault. was so selfish and worked and went to grad school and waited for mr. right. feel like i am being punished. i could have grandchildren if i had just gotten busy at 22 like some of my friends. sounds like you are trying - good luck to you!
[ Reply | Options ]Wow. I would NEVER say that had I Waited. I didn't wait, fwiw and there is a compromise either way. Sure I had an easier time getting pg, but definitely need to rush back to work and get a bottom of the barrel nanny to take care of dc. With our incomes and grad school loans there is NO WAY to afford what I'd call decent amenities like a 3br (ds and dd), on the books nanny, any kind of daycare at all, classes (ballet, music etc), flex work hours for mom/dad. Not unless I married a rich guy significantly older than me, that is ;-)
[ Reply | Options ]how are you being punished? you educated yourself, had/have a career, married mr. right, and have a child. sounds like you did everything right. you mayhave had problems getting preg at any age. count your blessings instead of beating yourself up. btw, i have a similar story of grad school, work and then marrying mr. right at 35. 2mcs, then 1st dc by ivf. I'm happy as a calm, whereas friends who married young are ALL having (or had) affairs.

Same here basically, but I am 35 second time around, again first try. I did use a basic chart on the internet to figure out the best days to do it (which started a little earlier than I would have assumed), but we didn't do it every day or even every other day, I did not chart, etc.

Tried for 6 months at age 30.5; after I turned 31 started going to RE and we tried IUI (4 cycles; 2nd cycle resulted in pg but mc at about 5.5 weeks); switched to IVF after my 32nd bday; 1st cycle resulted in pg but "missed miscarriage" required d&c at 9.5 weeks; currently 13 wks pg with twins after 2nd IVF cycle.
[ Reply | Options ]Good luck to you! I'll be starting my 2nd round of IVF next month. First round resulted in a Downs Syndrome pregnancy terminated at 14 weeks...
[ Reply | Options ]How old were you when you had down syndrome pregnancy. I am in the same boat as you. I am 38 and scared to try again
[ Reply | Options ]It was just a few months ago - I'm 36, but they consider me to be 37 since that's what I would have been when the baby would have been born. It was such a shock! I had a lot of embryo's to chose from and they only transfered ONE and it had Downs Syndrome. I have seven frozen ones that I'm a little afraid of, even though I've been told that it happening again would be like being struck by lightening twice...
