  • help, i need help with my 4.5 yr dc. i am just not happy with his diet. here is a list of foods he will eat without a fight. dino nuggets, rice (any kind). beans, broccoli, juice, water, grapes, apples. wheat thins, cheerios, bagels but it cant have anything on it. spaghetti w/o sauce, an occasional carrot, pretzels, raisins, waffles. occasionally soy yogurt if i feeling like dealing with his eczema. while i try to buy as much fortified stuff as possible, i still think this is not a good diet. any recs or suggestions? i am really at my whits end with this. and please no flames. tia.

    • Beans and rice are great. will he do brown rice? broccoli is great. try to make it different ways if you need to vary. you just need to add some calcium and maybe protein. will he eat eggs? tofu?

    • i have the same problem. ds loves avocados. have you tried that? i usually give a grilled chicken with avocado sandwich with just a sprinkle of olive oil and balsamic vinegar. he also loves couscous mixed with chopped spinach (i use the frozen kind) and some cheese.

    • Kids often have better luck with goat milk instead of soy if there are allergies. You could also add a protein mix such as Carnation Instant Breakfast (which essentially tastes like chocolate milk). This would solve both the calcium and protein issues with your list. But take heart. The list will probably change in a couple of months. Most kids go through many food phases.
