      • that's crazy...should be much lower than that for group daycare! That's more than nanny rates.

        • Good daycare is 100 times better for your child than a good nanny.

            • Because even the best nanny can't teach and nurture your child the way a parent can, so one-on-one care with a nanny is never as good as parenting. Exposing your child to many other children and caretakers if far preferable for their mental and social development. A nanny is a replacement YOU whereas good daycare is an amazing complement to your parenting that can benefit your child in ways you alone cannot.

              • itd. bad dcare is better than bad nanny. But one on one attn (for 8 or 10 hrs a day) is better than child being with adult whose attn is divided among several other children.

                  • You are incorrect. It is a developmental fact that one-on-one is better for young children. This idea of socializing them early is one that we make up to justify tossing them all in a room together like animals.

              • preschool for a couple hours is a complement; daycare for 10 is not.

                • Did the OP say she's have her child in daycare 10 hours a day, five days a week? No, she did not.

                  • if you work ft you will need to. Most of the children in daycare will have parents who are working ft, and they will be in there for 10 hrs, 5d/week. Not saying that, itself, is horrible. Just saying why a good nanny is preferable.

                    • Oh. I am putting my toddler in daycare two days a week. Hence my sense of complement. We'd make different arrangements if it were much more than that.

              • Hahahah. You're funny. Try working with good nannies. You'll change your tune right quick.
