would you live in an apt building with a drycleaner in its base? I am abt to go into contract on a 9th floor apt in a large building, and I just learned that there is a drycleaner on the ground floor of the building. I love this apt and it is a good price and I would be crushed to give it up. however, is it just too dangerous? please let me know your thoughts. TIA

      • Have you never heard of the dangerous chemicals used in dry cleaning? OP, I am guessing the apartments most at risk are right above the cleaners--but you can probably have the air tested if it's a concern. Here's a link on the dangers, for OR: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/02/23/earlyshow/contributors/tracysmith/main2507444.shtml

        • of course I have heard about the chemicals used in dry cleaning. But they are not going to contaminate someone's 9th floor apartment. Haven't you also heard of the regulations on drycleaners and waste, and the now much more limited use of the chemicals. An ex's father was a dry cleaner and died from cancer from the chemicals, so yes, I'm very familiar with it, but living in a building that has a drycleaner isn't going to harm someone.
