for those with 2 dc - did it take you longer to bond with your baby during your second pregnancy? i feel like i am so busy with #1 that i havent really thought about the baby growing inside of me too much. anyone else go through something similar? i am fairly early in the pregnancy so maybe that is why?

    • Yes, I don't think I stopped to think about her until I went on leave two weeks before. But it doesn't really matter I love both my dc's so much and they know it.

    • Heck, I had trouble bonding when my 2nd dc was BORN--I was so worried about #1. But now's my youngest is 3 and my sweet, sweet baby. Don't worry!

      • ITA. Started feeling a bond with #2 when she was around 3 months old and interacting. Before then... Nada.

    • I'm expecting #3 and between my other DC and my job I barely have time to rememmber I am PG, never mind "bond". It was the same with #2 (worse, actually, because I had a 1 y/o and a much crazier job), and, IME, it didn't change at all the way I felt about him once he arrived. I think it's on balance much healthier not to be obsessed with the PG like I was with #1 - as long as you remember to go to the OB when you're supposed to and to buy a couple packages of diapers before you give birth, all should be well. :-)

    • yes. having twins this time and at 33 weeks, it's just becoming real to me. much different than #1. I am so busy with #1 that I barely remember I'm pg most of the time except for the discomfort now. it's normal.

    • IME, there's good news & bad news. It did take me longer, both during preg and after birth. #2 was a much more difficult baby and I was somewhat resentful that she was so demanding that I lost a lot with #1. The good news is that after the first 9 months or so we bonded incredibly and we have an amazing relationship to this day and she's a pre-teen.

    • #2 is def different for me--i am not as connected--i found out the sex with this one because I needed something to bond with--that said--i am 4 weeks away and I cannot wait to meet this kid!

    • I'm 32 weeks with #2 now and I think I'm just really starting to get excited about "meeting" her and holding her. It is so different than with my first.
