  • MANDELL PARENT POSTING: now that the exmissions "code of silence" is done... how do you rate the psd's (gr) effort on behalf of your exmitting child? on a scale of 1-10 where 1 is awful and 10 is excellent... I'll start things rolling by giving her a 2 or 3 at best...

    • I am a Mandell parent and can't get this info at drop off when I ask. No one is talking. Maybe you will have better luck here.

      • NP: Mandell posted all the acceptances, implying they did pretty well. But no one is talking and OP gives them a 2 or 3. Clearly more to the story here...

        • Well, I know for a fact is that one of boys going to St. B's (per their list) is a sibling, so I doubt the school had much to do with his admission.

          • That's ridiculous. His older brother went to the same preschool, no? Every school places a number of siblings every year, ours had several Collegiate siblings this year, do they not count because they have older brothers there already?

    • you people stop blaming it on her. If your dc was undesirable as an applicant, she can't change that!

      • i think OP is talking about effort here, not results

        • EXACTLY. dc is in at a terrific school, no thanks to the psd who pursues only her own interest at the expense of anyone unfortunate enough to get in her way. we were lucky to escape, MANY others were not

    • Mandell mom. We were "lucky" and got in not 1st choice, but somewhere good. MANY MANY others were not. I have seen a few moms cry at pick up. I think she definitely didnt do her job, or worse yet, messed with some families...there are some amazing families "proactively staying" there next year and she is lucky to have them. and fwiw, the families are being really positive and saying they are fine and happy to be there when I know they must be upset. it's not that we dont think the school will be great, it will be. as nuts as she is, she wants her school to be the best-so it will be...but when our class entered there was no ongoing and so she owed it to everyone to do her best. I am thankful we escaped.

      • wow. so how do mandell parents feel about the school bragging about placement by releasing all the acceptances (subsequently posted on UB)?

    • I am very disappointed where my dc ended up. Don't think G actively tried to screw us over, but I think with her experience she knew exactly what was going to happen, and let it happen, whereas we didn't see it coming. She could have told us 6 weeks ago, look, in my experience x is going to happen, so you should think about y. Instead she just let things run their course. I realize she had a ton of kids to exmit, but I would have hoped she would have been more invested in my dc.

    • -10. We would have been much better off without her mindless brokering.
