this question is totally sincere so please don't flame. i don't live in NYC so i can't relate to the freaking out many of you do over preschools. can someone explain what the big deal is? do you really think where your 3 or 4 yo goes to preschool matters that much?

        • Absolutely! If your kid doesn't make it into the "right" preschool, he's basically FUCKED for life. Might as well just give Dr. Kevorkian a call.

    • No. Unfortunately, like with all things in NYC, demand exceeds supply. I just wanted ds to go to a cute preschool in our neighborhood, but we still had to jump through hoops.

      • ditto here- and the first come first serves in my neighborhood (UWS) cost just as much but have crappier facilities and less hours- so if you want a decent preschool, you have to fight for it whether you like it or not.
