  • Am I going to be able to bring 6 cans of formula in my carry-on, onto the plane? Don't want to use powder. I am going to a carribean island, and they will not be able to buy db'd formula. And I don't want to check it, just in case the bag gets lost.

    • They will probably let you take it (my experience is that the TSA officers a re pretty flexible with baby stuff as long as you clearly declare what you have). I wouldn't do it, though. I would carry on a day's worth and check the rest. They must sell formula on the island - on the off chance that your bag is lost, it may be a pain to get it, but I would take that chance.

      • nope, they don't, going to st.john. Very small idlnad and db is on nutramagin. Called the big grocery store, they don't have it.

    • They may let you take 1 or 2 cans and have your check the rest. Sometimes you'll get an understanding TSA officer and sometimes you'll get a real by the books person. Fed Ex the formula to the hotel your are staying. I do this al the time when I travel with my family to Hawaii.

    • I've carried on an entire ice chest of frozen breast milk (would NEVER risk losing this!) and they've allowed it.

    • they do let you carry it. I hhave done it many times. You have to tell them that it is formula which is like 'milk'. the key security code word for baby formula is milk.

    • I imagine you are going on American Airlines. They typically don't get all the passengers' luggage on their small planes to St. Thomas and deliver it 1-2 days later. Be absolutely prepared for that!!!!!!!!!!!
